OUR STORY
In late 2006, a few Christians got together and began doing a spiritual discussion group at the Borders Cafe in Germantown, MD. It started by just passing out some flyers and putting up a small sign at our table in the cafe. People from diverse backgrounds joined in to discuss current spiritual topics. It was great to connect with a broad range of people and interact about what the Bible had to say about various topics.
From there, we began to pray and seek God on a next step. Would people resonate with a vision of a church that was all about helping people focus on what matters most in life: loving God and loving people? Would people resonate with our mission of helping people connect more deeply with Jesus Christ, develop friendships with each other and care for people in the community? When we sensed that the answer was yes from God and others, so we stepped out to begin to form Upcounty Church.
Then, on September 30, 2007, we had our first weekly service at the Germantown Regal Theater. It was exciting to invite our new neighbors to the Regal Theater. We soon began to do a number of community kindness service projects, small groups and other community-based ministries.
We look forward to serving the upcounty area while being a guest-friendly and diverse church.
