VISION AND MISSION

Upcounty Church is people from all walks of life who are committed to discovering how life with Jesus Christ is relevant in our daily lives.  We're passionate about helping people explore what it means to be in a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We're committed to caring for the people who live and work in the upcounty area.

OUR PURPOSE

To love God, love people and the rest will follow.

We want to stay focused on what matters most as we form a church to engage our changing community.  Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind ... and ... love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37, 39)

LIVING OUT YOUR PURPOSE

Our focus is helping people make three connections in life: connect with Jesus Christ, connect with others and care for people.  Whether you're new to Christianity or you've been a Christian for a while, to be fully human and fully alive, God encourages all of us to experience these connections.  But sometimes the way we do church or don't do church gets in the way of what matters most.  There's a picture of these three connections happening in the very first church mentioned in the Bible.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayers ... praising God and having favor with all the people.  (Acts 2:42, 47)

Connect with God  "... to the breaking of bread, and to prayers ..." (Acts 2:42) " ... praising God ..." (Acts 2:47)

Connecting with God begins by entering into personal, spiritual relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and living out life with God daily. Connecting with God also means gathering together with others to celebrate what God has done in our lives, experience His love for us and honor Him in worship.

Connect with others "... to fellowship ..." (Acts 2:42)

Connecting with others means building friendships and more meaningful relationships.  The early church knew what it meant to love each other and serve each other.  It's an example for us today.

Care for people  "... and having favor with all the people." (Acts 2:47)

This early church had a great reputation in the surrounding community because of its love and care for people outside the church.  The story of the early local church in the New Testament Book of Acts is an example for us as we form a church to engage our changing community and neighborhoods.

OUR CORE VALUES

Our Core Values help us stay on track with what matters most as a church.

Connect:  Connect with God while in community with others.

We want to create environments where people come together regularly to worship God.  That happens at the Weekend Worship on Sundays and also in neighborhood small groups.

Grow:  Live life the way Jesus intended and pass it on.

Living life the way Jesus intended means being transformed by God from the inside out so that the life with Christ that the Bible talks about happens freely and naturally in us.  Being transformed by God is a lifelong process that He wants every Christian to engage in.

Serve:  Build relationships and serve others.

Life-change happens best in relationship.  We want to create environments where people build meaningful relationships and discover how God has uniquely wired them for a purpose to be lived out by loving and serving others.

Care:  Demonstrate God's unchanging love to all people.

As we reach out to others, we want to not only share story of Christ and His love for them but we also want to demonstrate God's love in tangible, practical ways.  We have a passion to care for people who have physical, emotional, relational and spiritual needs.
